36 China Town is a Bollywood film directed by Abbas-Mustan. The film is a murder mystery which stars Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and Upen Patel.

The film was released in May 2006. It was considered a failure by critics who criticised it for its weak storyline and lack of suspense for being a murder mystery but still managed to to be moderately successful at the box office, partially due to the comedy in the film.

After making a stylish debut as a Casanova in 36 CHiNA TOWN, model-turned-actor Upen Patel is leaving no stone unturned to ensure success. He rocked the floor with ‘Aashiqui’ that had him grooving to Himesh Reshammiya’s voice in 36 CHiNA TOWN. Well there is yet another composition by Reshammiya that’ll outshine ‘Aashiqui’ also.

Apparently 2.5 crore has been spent on a song from his upcoming flick SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM. it has specially been choreographed by South African professional Tyrone Watkins. Those who’ve seen the rushes of Suneel Darshan’s SHAKALAKA BOOM BOOM say he has fantastic screen presence.

Upen is a great dancer! He had enrolled for Salsa and was soon asked to leave the dance class. Apparently his presence distracted girls and other people out there. “Upen was really quick at picking up the steps and his style was too advanced for the class,” the owner of the academy is quoted as saying in a daily. Model-turned-actor Upen Patel has recently been expelled from a dance class at Bandra because of the furor he created there.

He had joined the class almost a month ago to learn Salsa. He was also picking us the steps pretty quickly. However, as inevitable as it sounds, he proved to be a major distraction for the girls who attended the same class. Every girl wanted to shake a leg with the smoldering actor, which made the instructors lose their cool. The other guys were also feeling neglected, so Upen was politely asked to leave the class.

However, Rumi Sood, the owner of the academy, had a different story to tell. She said that Upen was really quick at picking up the steps and his style was too advanced for the class. Upen Patel has surprised everyone by winning the best newcomer award at the recently concluded GiFA awards in Malaysia. Upen who is currently in Malaysia is very overjoyed on winning this award. When contacted as to how it felt winning the best debut award, Upen replied “i feel i am on top of the world.

it feels great especially when you are an outsider to the industry. Winning is special when you have no Godfather in the industry and you are trying to make your mark. i really cherish this award.”

Director Suneel Darshan is looking forward to his film release Shakalaka Boom Boom starring Upen Patel, Bobby Deol, Celina Jaitley and Kangana Ranaut. Reportedly the musical is the adapted version of Amadeus.

The director wants to ensure that this movie turns out to be the model-turned-actor’s big break, which is why he has decided to shoot a special title track for Upen.

The song is going to cost the director a whopping Rs.2.5 crore! Here’s why. Filmmaker Suneel Darshan is determined that protege Upen Patel’s film with him is as much talked about as it is looked forward to.

Not that the model-turned-actor didn’t get his due in his debut 36 China Town, but Darshan wants to ensure that Shakalaka Boom Boom takes Patel to another level. The musical, a desi version of Amadeus, also stars Bobby Deol, Celina Jaitly and Kangana Ranaut.

One of Darshan’s ideas is to shoot a special title track focusing on his blue-eyed boy. “To be shot extensively in New York over four days, this song will see Upen perform a song choreographed by South African choreographer Tyrone Watkins. Celina Jaitley walked into Upen Patel’s hotel room thinking it’s her mother’s room. Upen tells, “i was lying on my bed talking on the phone when Celina entered my room.

When she saw me in the room she asked me what i was doing in her mother’s room. i explained that it was my room.

She immediately rushed out. i, too, headed straight for the reception desk.” There they got to know that the reception guys mistakenly gave the key. Later she apologized to Upen. He laughed it off and now he often teases her about it.
