‘I was the star attraction’

While Upen Patel has already taken a plunge in Bollywood, model Muzammil Ibrahim is following suit soon. There is going to be some serious shortage of guy candy on the ramp now. While Upen Patel has already taken a plunge in Bollywood, model Muzammil Ibrahim is following suit soon. “I have signed Mahesh Bhatt’s next movie, Dhokha, which will be shot during winters in Delhi this year.

I have got an author-backed role in the film. The film talks about how the perception of India has changed over the years. However, films made by the Bhatts are never weighed down by messages, entertainment comes first,” he says.

But films, he says, come second in his scheme of things. “Modelling is my first love. I will always be associated with modelling, even if I am acting,” Muzammil says. But right now, work is last thing on his mind. This Kashmiri lad recently went back to the Valley and is still reminiscing about it.

“The best moment was when I went for a swim in the Dal Lake with my friends. We took a shikara and then enjoyed a swim. People may say that the lake has become dirty but I saw no such thing. It is clean and beautiful as always. I was quite a star attraction there with people chasing me around!”

But not all is hunky dory with his home state. “I miss the freedom I used to enjoy in Srinagar’s streets when I was a child. Now, there are men in uniform stationed everywhere. You cannot as much as shout outside. There is terror all around, even my friends talk about it all the time. It is in everybody’s eyes… every visitor is seen with suspicion. It is very sad,” Muzammil says.
